A former physician from Vaughan is facing charges after he allegedly wrote fraudulent prescriptions to obtain medications.

The OPP Anti-Rackets Branch, Health Fraud Investigation Unit, began investigating after a member of the public contacted the Ministry of Health tip line, alleging the man received medications from third parties for whom he had written fraudulent prescriptions. The ministry then contacted police.

In a news release, OPP said the accused made “inappropriate billings to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan and the Ontario Drug Benefit Program.”

Victor Rogozovsky, 34, has been charged with three counts each of fraud under $5,000 and trafficking in a controlled substance.

The accused is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court.
