Dump truck driver arrested in double fatal Markham collision

The driver of a dump truck in the collision that killed a 21-year-old man and 23-year-old woman has been charged with dangerous dangerous by York Regional Police.

Anthony Baglieri, 46, of Vaughan is charged with two counts of dangerous driving cause death and dangerous driving cause bodily harm following the Oct. 12 collision between a dump truck with a trailer and an Acura with three occupants at Markham Road and Elson Street, police said.

The 21-year-old male driver and 23-year-old female rear passenger in the Acura were pronounced deceased at the scene. The front passenger, a 52-year-old woman, remains in critical condition in hospital, police said.

The dump truck driver remained at the scene with no injuries. 

Baglieri is to appear in court on Nov. 29 at 9:30 a.m., police said.
