Driver, passenger injured in East Gwillimbury collision

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit are seeking witnesses following a serious collision in the Town of East Gwillimbury.

On Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at 6:30 p.m., York Regional Police were called to McCowan Road north of Davis Drive for a report of a collision. When officers arrived, they found a black Kia Stinger had left the roadway. A 27-year-old man, who is believed to have been the driver, was found near the vehicle with minor injuries. A 22-year-old female, who is believed to have been a passenger, was found a distance from the vehicle suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to hospital where her injuries were later upgraded to non-life-threatening.

Any witnesses who observed the vehicle driving prior to the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to please come forward.

York Regional Police is asking anyone with information to contact the Major Collision Investigation Unit by calling 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7704, or to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS, or leave an anonymous tip online.
