Arson suspected in Markham tow truck fire

Investigators with the #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a suspicious vehicle fire that occurred in the City of Markham.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2020 shortly after 10:30 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Elson Street in the area of Markham Road and Steeles Avenue for a report of a vehicle on fire. When officers arrived, they found a tow truck on fire in the driveway, as well as the garage door. Markham Fire and Emergency Services extinguished the fire and there were no injuries. Investigators believe that the fire was intentionally set.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious is asked to come forward.
