Arrest made in Stouffville indecent acts investigation

York Regional Police would like to thank the community for sharing tips and information which resulted in identifying a suspect and charges being laid in connection with incidents of indecent acts in the Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville.

Police began an investigation on June 2, 2022, after receiving a report of a male suspect who exposed himself in the area of an elementary school on Greenwood Road.

During the investigation officers received reports of additional incidents that were believed to have been committed by the same suspect.

A media release was issued on the incidents and thanks to tips from the community and investigative actions taken by the officers, investigators were able to identify the suspect. On Thursday, June 30, 2022, at 10:15 p.m., a 24-year-old man from Whitchurch-Stouffville was arrested and has been charged with indecent acts.

Due to factors associated to the accused, his name will not be released at this time.

“We are so grateful for the strong partnership York Regional Police enjoys with our community,” said Chief Jim MacSween. “I want to thank those citizens who shared information that assisted us in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion. This certainly shows that our citizens are equally committed to ensuring that we have a safe and secure community.”
