Arrest made in Richmond Hill trumpet theft

Investigators learned that on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, a man entered a music store and stole a C trumpet and an effects pedal valued at more than $5,000.

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 49-year-old man in connection with the theft of a trumpet from a music store in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, York Regional Police responded to a music store located in the area of Leslie Street and Elgin Mills Road East for a report of a theft. Investigators learned that on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, an unknown man entered the store and stole a C trumpet and an effects pedal. The items stolen are valued at more than $5,000.

Investigators released images of the suspect, and thanks to tips from the community, the suspect was identified. He was arrested in the City of Toronto on Feb. 13, 2020.

Charged: 

  • Gregory Brian Moore, 49, of no fixed address

Charges: 

  • Theft over $5,000
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Breach of probation x2

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Feb. 14, 2020.
