4 men arrested in connection with LCBO thefts across York Region

Nearly $50,000 in alcohol recovered, York Regional Police say

Four Brampton men have been charged in connection with large-scale liquor thefts valued at close to $50,000 across York Region. 

Investigators on proactive patrol observed several suspects entering the rear door of an LCBO at Yonge Street and High Tech Road in Richmond Hill on Thursday, Dec. 14 at about 8:30 p.m., York Regional Police 2 said in a news release.

The suspects stacked a number of cases of alcohol and then moved them off the property, while three others were in the store as lookouts, police said.

All four suspects exited the store, entered a vehicle and loaded up the awaiting cases of alcohol. 

The suspects were followed to a parking lot in Mississauga, where they were observed loading up the alcohol into a shipping container.

The suspects were arrested and a large quantity of alcohol was recovered, police said.

Almost $20,000 in Canadian currency and a quantity of drugs, suspected to be methamphetamine and heroin, were seized, police added.

Charged are Shamsher Singh, 26, Jaswinder Singh, 55, Lovepreet Singh, 27, and Shehnajdeep Singh Brar, 25.

Charges are: theft over $5,000; theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.

Brar was also charged with: fail to comply with release order x6; breach of probation x6; and possession for the purpose of trafficking x2. Brar was on probation for unrelated charges at the time of his arrest, police said.
