3 youths, 18-year-old charged in bank and mobile phone store robberies

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have charged three male youths and one man in an ongoing investigation into bank and mobile phone store robberies.

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020, shortly after 7:30 p.m., investigators located a suspected stolen vehicle in the area of Royal York Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue West in the City of Toronto where, with the assistance of the Toronto Police Service, the vehicle was stopped. The driver was placed under arrest and three suspects fled on foot. A short time later, with the assistance of canine officers, the other three suspects were located and placed under arrest.

Charged:

  • Male youth, 17, City of Brampton
  • Male youth, 17, City of Brampton
  • Male youth, 17, City of Mississauga
  • Sharmarke Hassan, 18, City of Brampton

Charges: 

  • Robbery
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Flight from police
  • Disguise with intent

The investigation is ongoing.
