Three teenagers have been charged following an attempted robbery earlier this week at a pharmacy in Richmond Hill.

Three males entered and demanded narcotics at the pharmacy near Elgin Mills Road and Goode Street shortly after 10 a.m. Monday, York Regional Police said in a news release.

However, they were unsuccessful in the robbery attempt due to a safe that opened on a time delay, police said. The suspects fled in a dark-coloured vehicle.

The suspects were found and arrested, and police learned the vehicle had been stolen in Toronto.

Prince Brown, 18, and a 17-year-old, both from Brampton, have been charged with disguise with intent and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. Police say Brown was on a release order for similar offences committed elsewhere.

A 15-year-old from Toronto has been charged with disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of failure to comply with a judicial release order. Police say he was already before the courts on five release orders, including for violent offences.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 6630. Information can be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or 1800222tips.com.
