2 women killed in collision with truck in Stouffville

Police said Stouffville Road will remain closed from Warden to Kennedy into Saturday evening

Two women were killed in a collision with a transport truck in Whitchurch-Stouffville Saturday morning.

A transport truck with a trailer collided with a Toyota Corolla at 8:45 a.m. June 11 at the intersection of Warden Avenue and Stouffville Road, York Regional Police said.

The driver and passenger in the car were pronounced dead on the scene, police said. The driver of the transport truck was transported to hospital with  minor injuries.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, are being asked to come forward.

Investigators would also like to speak to anyone who saw either of the vehicles or has information on driving behaviours prior to the collision.

At about 6 p.m., police said Stouffville Road would remain closed from Warden to Kennedy Road for another four to six hours as the investigation continues.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and find an alternate route.
