2 Newmarket women charged in pedestrian hit-and-run

Two Newmarket women have been arrested after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene in Innisfil.

On Wednesday, March 22, at approximately 1:30 p.m., South Simcoe Police Service responded after a 35-year-old male pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle in a parking lot in the area of Highway 89 and Highway 400  in Cookstown. 

The vehicle had left the scene, police said.

The man who was struck was treated in hospital for minor injuries and released.

Shelli Stummer, 56, and Lori Longstaff, 60, are charges with fail to stop after accident and dangerous operation.

Both were released with a future court date, police said.
