2 men arrested after handguns, cocaine seized in Richmond Hill

Vehicle search occurred during Richmond Hill traffic stop at Elgin Mills and Yonge

York Regional Police has seized two firearms and a quantity of drugs after a traffic stop in the City of Richmond Hill. On Search warrants were executed at the suspects’ residence in Toronto, along with a vehicle associated to one suspect. Investigators located ammunition.

Friday, Dec. 30, 2022 at approximately 1:45 a.m., an officer on patrol in the area of Elgin Mills Road and Yonge Street conducted a traffic stop on a red Kia Forte with two occupants. The driver was investigated and police located marijuana in the vehicle. The driver and passenger were searched, along with the vehicle. Police located a loaded handgun on the passenger, an unloaded handgun on the rear seat, along with a quantity of cocaine and cash.

Charged:
    •    Jarra Shifara, 22, of Toronto
    •    Cash Dillon, 22, of Toronto

Charges included:
    •    Possession For The Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
    •    Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition x2
    •    Possession of a Firearm Without a License x2
    •    Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition x2
    •    Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x2
    •    Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle x2
    •    Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition x2
    •    Possession of a Weapon x2
    •    Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available (Shifara only)
    •    Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition (Shifara only)
    •    Breach of Probation (Shifara only)
    •    Carry Concealed Weapon (Dillon only)
