Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward following a now-fatal collision in the City of Vaughan.

On Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers attended Pleasant Ridge Avenue, between Basie Gate and Coltrane Drive, for a serious motor vehicle collision involving a white Hyundai Santa Fe and a 10-year-old girl riding a bicycle.

The child was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was sadly pronounced deceased last night. The 33-year-old driver of the Santa Fe was not injured and remained on the scene.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area, are being asked to please come forward. Investigators have opened a digital evidence portal where members of the community can upload any photos, video surveillance or dashcam footage of the collision.
