NEWS RELEASE
YORK REGION TRANSIT
*************************
Effective Nov. 18, 2019, York Region Transit (YRT) will no longer sell paper fare media, including 10-pack tickets, monthly passes and the GTA Weekly Pass. Previously purchased paper media will be accepted until June 30, 2020.

Travellers now have the option to purchase YRT fare using a PRESTO card or through their smartphones with the mobile payment app, YRT Pay. YRT Pay is available for free in the App Store or Google Play. Cash fares will still be available.

Enhanced transit payment options throughout the Greater Toronto Area has provided an opportunity for YRT to go paperless, eliminating the need for travellers to go to a location to buy tickets or passes.

A paperless transit system allows travellers to pay for transit at their convenience and at a reduced price. The majority of transit riders are already enjoying the benefits of using PRESTO or YRT Pay.
