This Easter weekend, try pairing beer and chocolate, take the family to an eggs-perience at a local farm, meet the Easter bunny and hunt for eggs at the Eggstravaganza

Thursday, April 6

Beer and Chocolate Pairing: Old Flame Brewery's head of beer education guides a beer and chocolate pairing event, featuring  chocolate pairings from @cocoa40inc with its signature lagers from 6 to 7p.m. on Main St. Newmarket. Tickets, $25, include a flight, four gourmet chocolates, a take-home bottle of Lucky Charm Dry Irish Stout, and munchies.

Board Gaming: Join local board game enthusiasts at Cardinal Press Espresso Bar at 200 Main St. Newmarket from 6 to 10 p.m. The games are provided and teachers are available, or you bring your games to teach others. Note from organizers: We don't tend to play a lot of 'traditional' board games such as Monopoly, Clue, Sorry! Let them know what you would like to play when you RSVP and they will bring those games. 

Friday, April 7

Round the Bend Farm's Eggs-perience: On April 7, 8, 10 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., bring a basket and hunt for a dozen colourful Easter eggs hidden in baskets around the farm (cartons provided), which are returned at the sorting station for anEaster treat. Visit the barn and see the baby animals, hold a chick or bunny. Make a caterpillar craft and decorate a plastic Easter egg in the warm greenhouse, or take them home to make. Take photos with a giant Easter egg and other fun picture areas. Enjoy the outdoors activity boards, straw maze. Ages 23 months and older are required to purchase a ticket, $13.25. Round The Bend Farm is at 16225 Jane St, Kettleby.

Easter Fun Fest: Easter Fun Fest at Markham Fairgrounds at 10801 McCowan Rd. from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. offers family rides, games and activities. Attractions include jumping castles, kiddie midway, pony rides, arcade games, mini putt, easter egg hunts, live entertainment and much more. Tickets: children age two to 15 $25, unlimited rides; adults age 16 and up, $15; children 23 months and under get free admission. Paid parking.

Saturday, April 8

Outdoor Meditation at Fairy Lake: Join meditation sessions every Saturday in the beautiful setting of the Fairy Lake Park from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., rain or shine, snow or sun. Some mats, cushions, and chairs will be available. Please dress appropriately for the weather, and feel free to bring a mat, cushion, or folding chair if you like, but not necessary.

Easter Egg Hunt: Grace Church hosts a free Easter egg hunt for children age three to Grade 6, with lots of chocolate and prizes from 2 to 3 p.m. at 221 Carlson Dr., Newmarket. Register here.

Paint Night: Join Paint Nite: tulip flowers motif with watercolour at 5 to 7 p.m. for adults at Montana's Newmarket, 17450 Yonge St
Newmarket. Ticket, $40, includes supplies.

Monday, April 9

Easter Eggstravaganza: Have a photo session with the Easter Bunny, join the Easter egg hunt (starts at 11:30 a.m.), enjoy hot chocolate, snacks and more from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at AOK Playpark (Dinosaur Park) at 535 Timothy St., Newmarket, on the Tom Taylor Trail (weather permitting). RVSP to host Sheila Stewart, [email protected]

Woodstock Lives, Friday, April 14: The greatest concert in history is recreated in this incredible production, Woodstock Lives, featuring the music of The Who, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Joe Cocker, The Grateful Dead and Crosby Stills Nash & Young performed by Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train, Ryan Ainsworth, Patrick Fockler, Jules Cardoso, Randy Brethour, and Craig Riley. Region of York Quilters Guild Show, April 14 and 15: A Million Little Stitches Quilt Show at Newmarket Community Centre & Lions Hall.

Film Fridays, Friday, April 14: No registration required, just drop in and enjoy a free movie in the Newmarket Public Library’s multipurpose room. All movies start at 2 p.m. The Phantom of the Open (2022) is the true story of Maurice Flitcroft, who managed to gain entry into the British Open golf championship in 1976 even though he had never played golf before. To the chagrin of the organizers of the Open, he proceeded to shoot the worst round of golf in the history of the prestigious tournament. In the process, he became an unexpected folk hero in Britain. Newmarket Juried Art Show (NJAS), April 18 to 30: The Newmarket Juried Art Show returns to the Serpa Gallery, Old Town Hall, with an opening reception April 20 from 7 to 9 p.m., featuring beautiful pieces from local artists. Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday noon to 4 p.m. Gallery closed April 21, 23, 25, 29.

Newmarket Folk Society presents An Evening with Stephen Fearing, Saturday, April 22:  Stephen Fearing’s music is a mesmerizing blend of roots, folk, and pop. Co-founder of Canadian roots-rock supergroup Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, he is a beguiling teller of  tales and master guitarist who delights audiences throughout North America, the U.K. and Europe. A multi JUNO and Canadian Folk Music award winner, his 11th solo album, Every Soul’s a Sailor, was named 2017 Worldwide Album of the Year by Blues & Roots Radio. Repair Café, Saturday, April 29: Get ready for the return of the Newmarket Public Library's free Repair Café in collaboration with NewMakeIt and York Region. Volunteers will be on hand using their skills to fix small appliances, jewelry, toys, clothing, and more. Just bring your item and any replacement part it needs. One item allowed per guest. Register early, space is limited. Register for a Repair Café timeslot 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tapestry Chamber Choir and York Chamber Ensemble Concert, Saturday May 6: The ​Tapestry Chamber Choir and the York Chamber Ensemble will be performing the entire Requiem of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 222 Church St, Newmarket,  at 7:30 p.m. They will be joined by talented soloists from both near and far.
