Unionville restaurant charged with public health infractions

One restaurant in York Region was charged for public health violations last week.

Fantasticks, 1057 - 28 South Unionville Ave., was charged Sept. 5 with two offences, according to the report for inspections made Aug. 28 to Sept. 3 by York Region Community and Health Services, health protection division.  

The restaurant was charged with food premises not being maintained to keep the food-handling room free from equipment not regularly used, as well as with food premises not being maintained with clean floors in the food-handling room.

York Region inspectors also noted in the report that the establishment failed to ensure surfaces are sanitized as necessary.

Food handler education was carried out on site and a re-inspection will be conducted at a future date.
