Customers are without power and the east bound lanes of Davis Drive in Newmarket are closed Sunday for hydro pole replacement work.

NT Power said a planned power outage is underway on Oct. 16, in order for crews to safely replace a hydro pole near 270 Davis Drive, which is just north of Lorne Avenue.

The outage began at 6 a.m. and is expected to last for eight to 10 hours. It will also impact residents at 212 Davis, 250 Davis, 260 Davis, and 280 Davis.

Crews are replacing a wooden hydro pole, that was temporarily installed after a vehicle collision, with a permanent concrete pole.

Due to this work the east bound lanes of Davis are closed in that area. Traffic will be diverted into the east bound bus lane, NT Power said. On Track Safety Ltd. traffic services and police will be on site to manage the closure.

Residents can also expect construction noise and dust from the equipment but NT Power said it is making efforts to minimize this impact. Access to all buildings in the area will be maintained.

Customers are encouraged to follow NT Power's social media and outage dashboard for updates or changes to this outage.
