Online Magna Hoedown auction benefits 30 community charities

The online auction offers more than 100 items that can be bid on until Sept. 10

The annual Magna Hoedown silent auction is on now in support of the event's 30 beneficiaries, including several organizations in Newmarket.

The online auction, which runs until Sept. 10, offers more than 100 items that participants can bid on. As Magna said in a news release, "There is something for everyone!"

Everything is done online, so once you have perused the items available, you fill out your contact information and credit card details to set your bid.

"You will receive notifications when you’ve been outbid, you can note favourites to keep an eye on, and even place a maximum auto bid that increases by the valid bid increment when you’ve been outbid – so you can set it and forget it on your favourites," Magna said.

All the proceeds raised through the auction will support this year's 30 Magna Hoedown Community Fund recipients. A number of this year's recipients are based in Newmarket, including the Cornerstone to Recovery, Newmarket African Caribbean Canadian Association, Newmarket Food Pantry, Newmarket Jets Speed Skating Club, Shenderey Gymnastics Institute, Abuse Hurts, and Rose of Sharon.

According to Magna, the recipient organizations' programs and services collectively help more than 153,000 residents in York Region.

To participate in the silent auction you have to text "Hoedown" to 289-216-5901. You will receive a link to view all the available items on your phone. Anyone who has questions or needs technical support can contact [email protected]

Magna has opted not to hold an in-person hoedown again this year due to the pandemic and the amount of planning required.
