If your New Year’s resolution was to do more for the environment, then LSRCA’s annual do-it-yourself seedling sale offers you a simple way to meet that goal… by planting trees. Running now until March 8, 2019, our annual seedling sale offers watershed residents great prices on tree seedlings, including White Pine, Tamarack and Silver Maple, with prices ranging from $0.95- $1.35 per seedling.

The minimum order is 100 seedlings, which come in bundles of 50. If these numbers sound like more than you need, speak with your family, friends and neighbours and place an order together.

“We’ve already sold almost 6,000 trees from 40 different orders in our pre-sale, offered exclusively to landowners who’ve purchased in previous years” says Paul Cottenden, LSRCA’s forest technician. “But we still have an excellent variety of species available for sale right now” he adds.

Planting trees isn’t just good for the environment, they provide wildlife habitat, and also beautify your property, increase your property value, provide savings on energy bills and can act as windbreaks. The seedlings will be available for pick up on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Scanlon Creek Conservation Area in Bradford.

Seedlings are put in large paper bags (like the kind you use for yard waste) and fit into the back of your car (no trailer required). When you arrive for pick up, staff will be on hand to provide instructions and advice on how to plant your trees. For watershed residents with larger properties (2 acres or more), LSRCA also offers full-service tree planting. LSRCA forestry staff will conduct a no-obligation site visit to assess your property and create a customized planting plan to suit your needs.

Tree orders can be placed online here. Residents can also call Brian Bollmann at 905-895-1281 ext. 316, or toll free at 1-800-465-0437 if they have questions about either program.
