The Town of Newmarket is redoing the intersection at Timothy and Cedar streets and once completed, the area will feature new paving, pedestrian ramps and tactile plates at the crossing that are compliant with accessibility regulations, and sidewalk and curb replacements.

“The Timothy and Cedar intersection is rutted and uneven, which may cause vehicles to bottom out,” a town spokesperson said. “Asphalt paving is required as the surface is showing signs of deterioration, and the overgrown areas also require maintenance.”

Construction began Sept. 15 at the downtown intersection and is expected to be completed by mid-October, weather permitting.

Work on the project also involves the removal and reinstatement of the asphalt surface in the lane south of Timothy Street, which includes repaving two private driveways in conjunction with this project.

Line painting will also be completed as required.
