Newmarket is ready to fill the Riverwalk Commons with music as it unveiled its lineup for the TD Newmarket Music Series this summer.

The free concerts will run every Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. throughout July and August. The mostly local opening acts will tee up a range of tribute bands paying homage to the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Elton John and more.

The annual concert series attracts thousands of people each week in the summer to enjoy the musical offerings brought in by the town.

“Join us for this much loved event featuring premier tribute bands and talented local performers,” the Town of Newmarket said on its social media.

The annual music series will open July 6 with Blame It All On Their Roots headlining, a tribute to Garth Brooks and Shania Twain. The Beresfords will be the opening act.

July 13 will feature Tommy Youngsteen, a Bruce Springsteen tribute. The Taylor Made Band will open for them.

Neo Nostalgic will offer covers of the '90s and 2000s rock for July 20, preceded by Bernadette Connors.

The following week, on July 27, The Liverpool 4 will pay homage to the Beatles on stage. The Focklers will be opening for them.

August will begin with The Natural Women Show Aug. 3, a tribute to Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and Chaka Kahn. The Sidewalk Crusaders will be the opening act.

Epic Elton will play songs from namesake Elton John Aug. 10, opened by the Free Label.

The '80s will come alive Aug. 17 as the George St. Kitts Band performs pop music from the decade, including Michael Jackson and Madonna. Morgan Toney, the 2022 Indigenous Artist of the Year from the East Coast Music Awards will open.

Finally, the Blushing Brides will pay tribute to the Rolling Stones Aug. 24, with Glenn Marais and the Mojo Train opening for them.

Food and beverage will also be on offer at each of the concerts, with local purveyors rotating each week.

Newmarket Mayor John Taylor said on social media that the annual announcement is “one of the most exciting moments of spring.”

“See you there!” he added.
