The Easter Bunny and Newmarket's Optimist Club will be visiting neighbourhood homes next month.

The Easter Bunny will once again be making its way through Newmarket next month and you can sign up to get a special visit to your household.

Newmarket’s Optimist Club will be hosting its annual Easter Bunny event April 1 to 2, offering a visit from the bunny with gift bags. The free program is available to 60 households, with the bunny offering a photo opportunity.

Newmarket Optimist Club member Cindy Crone said the event has found continued success, with a waiting list from last year.

“We love that the children were so engaged and so excited to see the Easter Bunny,” she said. “They love it. They are so excited.”

The club started holiday photo events in 2021, part of the service club’s efforts to provide for young people in the community.

It continues as way to offer something accessible for families, Crone said.

It can be helpful to “anyone who has any mobility issues or sensory issues,” she said, adding that it can be less overwhelming for some children to have this in their own homes versus a crowded location. “We’re coming to them. So they don’t have to pay for transportation, that type of thing. There aren’t any boundaries.”

Sign-ups are available through newmarketoptimists.club/upcoming-events.

The reaction of children to the visit is cute, she said.

“Half of them hide behind their parents, and the other half are not wanting the Easter bunny to leave,” she said. “It’s really special to see the reaction.”
