The Very Useful Theatre Company has appointed a new president who will be at the helm of the Newmarket International Festival of One Act Plays.
Tom Pearson became president of the company, effective Oct. 1, after Paul Bath announced he was stepping down from the role.
Pearson brings several years of experience in theatre, television and film to the role. Previously, he served as stage manager for the festival, which is hosted by the Very Useful Theatre Company, and served as its director of communications.
"He is enormously talented, creative and a whiz at producing the short promotional videos that were posted on social media. It was a stroke of luck when Tom came on board. The festival is in good hands and I know it will grow with Tom in command,” Bath said.
Pearson is a film school graduate, has acting, directing and producing credits in film and TV, and is the owner of TPE Productions.
He will oversee the company as it prepares for its sixth annual festival in 2023 and said he looks forward to seeing what they can accomplish next year and beyond.
