Newmarket Ahmadiyya Muslim youth host community blood drive

Newmarket chapter of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association holds regular blood drives as part of a nationwide campaign

As part of the nationwide campaign by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, the Newmarket chapter collected 16 units of blood and recruited several first-time donors at its blood drive Feb. 17 at Newmarket Community Centre, organizers said.

"The purpose of the blood drive was to encourage the community to come together for a noble cause," said Salman Ahmad, regional vice-president. "As a result, 12 new team members joined the team, including MP Tony Van Bynen, councillors Kelly Broome and Trevor Morrison, and York Regional Police Supt. Ryan Hogan."
