Multitude of collisions mark first significant snowfall of year (12 photos)

Ontario Provincial Police responded to 250 collisions in and around the GTA yesterday

The first significant snowfall of 2020 created havoc on the roads Saturday, with York Regional Police and Ontario Provincial Police responding to collisions throughout the day.

There more than 250 collisions in and around the GTA since the snow started falling yesterday morning, according to the OPP, while York police responded to multiple collisions across the region, including Aurora, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Vaughan.

No serious injuries occurred, police say.

More than 16 cm of snow fell in Toronto and across the GTA.

Environment Canada is predicting continued flurries in the morning Sunday, with temperatures plunging throughout the day to -8C by afternoon and -16C tonight.
