Newmarket shoppers will have a new department store to hit later this year with the opening of Marshalls on Yonge Street.
While there’s no official date for the opening of the store, Marshalls has confirmed the store will open in the former location of Winners at 17600 Yonge St.
"We anticipate that the new Marshalls store in Newmarket will open this fall,” said Jordan White, a public relations specialist with TJX Canada, the parent company of both Marshalls and Winners.
After Winners moved to Upper Canada Mall in 2022, the building on Yonge Street has been vacant until now.
Marshalls touts itself as a department store that “delivers great value on ever-changing selections of brand name, designer, and other high-quality fashions at prices generally 20 to 60 per cent below full-price retailers.”
Something that the Marshalls brand prides itself on for differing from other retailers is that they buy seasonally with new brand name products arriving several times a week.
“We don’t hold replenishment stock in our back rooms and the store managers don’t even know what’s coming until they throw open the delivery truck doors,” Marshalls official website said. “That’s what makes us so exciting to shop.”
Marshalls fans currently have to travel to Richmond Hill, Markham or Bradford West Gwillimbury to do their shopping.
More details about the opening of Marshalls in Newmarket will be available closer to the opening date, White said.
