A Markham seafood restaurant was charged for not meeting cleanliness requirements following a food inspection last week.

Amazing Seafood House at 5 - 4721 Highway 7 East was inspected by York Region Public Health on May 23.

The restaurant was found not in compliance of providing adequate protection against the entrance of pests and failing to ensure walls and floors were kept clean and in good repair, according to the inspection report.

It was charged with two offences for not maintaining clean floors in the food handling room and not maintaining clean walls in the food handling room.

Food handler education was carried out on site, a re-inspection was ordered and a ticket was served, according to the report.

The re-inspection was on May 25 and there were no issues reported.

York Region said these reports speak to the condition of the restaurant at the time of the inspection only and they cannot guarantee its condition at any other time.

This was the only restaurant charged under the Health Protection and Promotion Act by public health last week. There were no orders issued.
