Corneliu Bacauanu of Markham plans to pay off some bills after a $100,000 lottery windfall.
“It’s just amazing,” the 67-year-old husband and father said after matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the Sept. 20, 2023 Lotto 6/49 draw to win $100,000.
Bacauanu been playing the lottery on and off for about 20 years.
While out grocery shopping the day after the draw, he checked his ticket at the ticket checker.
“I saw Big Winner come up and I couldn’t believe it — I had to go to a few other stores to make sure it wasn’t a mistake.”
Even his wife had to see for herself and go to the store with him.
“She was impressed.”
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Leslie Street in North York.
