IN FOCUS: Behind the scenes in training with CYFS firefighters

In this edition, Central York Fire Services invites NewmarketToday readers to see Newmarket and Aurora's firefighters in live fire training action

In Focus (previously Behind the Scenes) is a regular series on NewmarketToday in which photographer Greg King goes behind the scenes to share a story told through the lens of his camera.

In this edition, Central York Fire Services invites NewmarketToday readers to see Newmarket and Aurora's firefighters in live fire training action at the operations centre in Richmond Hill.

The fire and emergency training centre is a modern facility designed to meet the growing and changing needs of fire services. With a multi-level tower, firefighters train in a realistic setting, going through training exercises with different types of fires and difficulty levels.

Training scenarios include residential and highrise emergencies, confined space and trench rescues, auto extrication, vehicle fires, forcible entry and hazardous materials.

The tower includes theatrical smoke, sprinkler and standpipe systems, and kitchen, bedroom, car, hallway, windows and basement propane fires.
