BEHIND THE SCENES: Cheers, here's how Old Flame's brew is crafted (20 photos)

In our regular Membership+ series, NewmarketToday meets up with the master brewer at the Old Flame Ale House on Main Street

In our continuing Behind the Scenes series brought to you by Membership+, NewmarketToday photographer Greg King visits with brewer Richard Park as he concocts a craft ale at the Old Flame Ale House at the top of the hill on Newmarket's Main Street.

Located in the town's former fire hall originally built in 1952 — you could say it was a match that was meant to be for the appropriately monikered brewery — elements of its history have been preserved, with its features including fire hall antiques, an operating brewhouse, taproom, remote working area for local residents and a community event space.

Old Flame Brewing Co. was ranked as one of 10 Ontario breweries worth the road trip by Toronto Life last July for its "very solid German-leaning craft beer."
