Thanksgiving on Monday, Oct. 11 is a statutory holiday in Canada.  

What’s open: 

  • Parks, trails, and playgrounds
  • Some grocery stores, including No Frills on Davis Drive from (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Walmart on Yonge Street (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and Walmart on Davis Drive (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) 
  • Shoppers Drug Mart, including the Yonge & Savage location (9 a.m. to 10 p.m.), the Bayview & Stonehaven store (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.), and the Yonge & Davis location (9 a.m. to 8 p.m.) 
  • Upper Canada Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), Hillcrest Mall (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.), and Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. to 7 p.m.)
  • SilverCity Newmarket with showtimes listed online
  • GO Transit will be operating on a Sunday schedule 
  • York Region Transit will be running on a Saturday schedule

What’s closed: 

  • All LCBO stores and all Beer Store locations
  • Most banks and businesses
  • Canada Post will not collect or deliver mail on Oct. 11
  • All Town of Newmarket buildings and facilities will be closed
