Third-party events and initiatives are essential in fundraising for priority needs at Southlake Regional Health Centre and with summer here, Southlake Foundation is promoting plenty of events to support the hospital in the coming months.

“Third-party, community fundraising events and initiatives, held in support of our hospital, are integral to funding critical needs across Southlake,” said Jennifer Ritter, president and CEO of Southlake Foundation.

Since the beginning of July, and running until Oct. 1, Old Flame Brewing Co. at 140 Main St. South has been taking donations through its TipTap machine to help support Southlake.

At Stacked Pancake & Breakfast House at 17480 Yonge St., for every pancake, French toast and waffle order, $1 will be donated to Southlake. This initiative began July 1 and runs until Aug. 31.

On July 29, Polo for the Cure returns for its 15th anniversary at the Toronto Polo Club in Richmond Hill, at 13041 Leslie St. Supporters can spend the day watching polo while supporting breast cancer treatment at Southlake.

The Atticus Annual Golf Tournament will be back Aug. 12 at Silver Lakes Golf and Country Club in East Gwillimbury at 21114 Yonge St. in support of Southlake’s pediatric oncology clinic.

On Aug. 26, at Lakeview Golf Course in Jackson's Point, 2051 Metro Rd. North, Pitch for a Cause will be supporting the neonatal intensive care unit at Southlake.

The eighth annual NewRoads LakeRide in support of mental health programs at Southlake returns Sept. 10, where cyclists can ride 10 to 125 kilometres for a good cause.

On Sept. 15, the annual Edge Benefits Charity Golf Tournament is back in support of Southlake for its 13th year.

“Events like the NewRoads LakeRide helped us to build our new adult inpatient mental health unit,” said Ritter. “Health care is a partnership among hospital, community, and the province. We are grateful to the many patients and their families, as well as community members, organizations, and businesses, whose events support access to excellent local health care.”

Southlake Foundation always welcomes community members to get involved with their own initiatives, too, said Ritter.

“Hosting your own fundraiser is fun and easy, especially with our new ‘do it yourself’ online platform,” she said. “For anyone wanting to host a fundraising event for Southlake, reach out to us any time, or visit our website (southlake.ca/foundation/communityevents)."
