UPDATE: Harry Walker Parkway closed due to downed power lines

York Regional Police have closed a portion of Harry Walker Parkway in Newmarket due to a downed power lines this afternoon.

The temporary road closure is between Stellar Drive and Pony Drive, police said at about 2:45 p.m. Sept. 7.

Police are currently on the scene and have notified Newmarket-Tay Power of the issue.

It's not know how long it will take to resolve the issue and police are asking drivers to find an alternate route.

Update: NT Power has confirmed to NewmarketToday that customers in the Davis Drive and Leslie Street area are experiencing outages as a result.

"Crews are currently out investigating," said Alex Braletic, Newmarket-Tay Power, vice-president, engineering and operations.
