UPDATE: Emergency responders at Southlake for parking garage car fire

UPDATE, 11:00 a.m.: Southlake Regional Health Centre said a fire investigation is underway.

The hospital said the parking garage opposite to the Stronach Regional Cancer Centre is unavailable at this time. However, the breezeway drop-off area will remain open for patient/visitor drop-off only. 

"Security will be stationed outside the cancer centre to manage traffic congestion," Southlake said.

York Regional Police and Central York Fire Services are responding to two vehicles on fire at the Southlake Regional Health Centre parking garage.

Police and fire services responded to the scene around 9:47 p.m. Police said the fire occurred in the parking structure next to the hospital facility. Police said no injuries were reported.

Southlake said Prospect Street at Davis Drive is closed to traffic as of 11 p.m. and the parking garage is unavailable. 

"The emergency department remains open and clinical operations continue," Southlake said on social media. "Visitors to the hospital should access the site to the east."

The cause of the fire has yet to be publicly confirmed by authorities.
