The Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority is warning of possible flooding with 30 to 50 millimeters of rain forecasted over the weekend.

The LSRCA said though it does not expect widespread flooding, the high rainfall could create flood conditions in low-lying areas.

“All watercourses will experience higher than normal water levels and flows,” the organization said. “As a result, local streams and rivers will become dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts and bridges. Children should be warned to stay away from all watercourses.”

The LSRCA said a cluster of thunderstorms will be moving throughout the watershed this evening, citing an Environment Canada weather statement.

The watershed conditions statement will be in effect through July 22.
