To start with, I want to compliment the staff member from the Town of Newmarket who arrived on site after a TelMAX contractor hit a water line on our street while tunnelling for cable routing. When approached, the town staff member quickly and politely provided information about the situation.

On the other hand, the TelMAX contractor's response was terrible.

Our household noticed around 11 a.m. on Monday that there was very little water pressure in the house. Having observed the TelMAX contractor tunnelling earlier in front of our house, I thought maybe they had hit our lawn sprinkler system. A quick check verified this was not the case. My son then came in from walking our dog and reported the contractor had hit a water line.

I went out to investigate and saw a contractor with a white safety helmet on the street. I approached to ask about the situation. In spite of a number of attempts to get information, the contractor completely ignored me and kept walking away.

It has now been 10 hours that we have been without water.

The Newmarket town staff member was kind enough to go door to door to inform the residents of the situation, while the TelMAX contractor did nothing.

Is this what we are in for with TelMAX?
