Re: Letter to the editor, Banning morning walkers a mean move, Upper Canada Mall, March 30.

Is it really fair for letter writers Rick Butts and Vicki McBryde to use the word/term "banned" in their letter without context?

It suggests to me that the mall's decision was personal, and I am not comfortable with that characterization.

I personally don't think Upper Canada Mall has banned anyone access, but have merely adjusted their hours of operation.

Mall security costs money. The early morning mall walkers created an added expense with little financial benefit, despite the walkers' claim to the contrary.

The mall is a business enterprise, not a community centre. They are also not immune to financial stresses.

I would suggest that the letter writers temper their disappointment for a moment and try to understand the new reality, post-pandemic, that stuff costs money. Even for big businesses.

I see that the Magna Centre is open daily from 5 a.m. and they have a coffee shop.
