Your article rightly acknowledged the activism of these citizens but did not address the positive economic outcomes often associated with urbanization in the downtown core. Developments will continue, we should always consider the economic benefits.

Developers need to develop, construction workers need to construct, stores need customers and people need homes. No one wants to ignore history or live through 18 months of dust, noise and traffic delays but things are going to get built, let’s get them built here.

Balancing history with development is a conversation that must be had; leaning one way or the other entirely is short sighted. The downtown core must continue to evolve to compete for that tourism dollar. Local businesses that have invested their life savings and risked it all for our community need our support.

Balance yes, but growth, too.
