A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a 34-year-old man wanted after removing his court-ordered GPS ankle bracelet.

In 2019, investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit conducted an investigation into an armed home invasion robbery. A suspect who was charged in this investigation was convicted and released by the courts while awaiting sentencing. He was placed on several conditions, including house arrest and a condition to be wearing a GPS ankle bracelet at all times.

On Dec. 3, 2022, the suspect removed the ankle bracelet and left his residence in the Town of Whitby.

A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued. Investigators have exhausted a number of leads in attempting to locate him and are now appealing for assistance from the community.

He is considered armed and dangerous. If seen, do not approach him, instead call police immediately. He is encouraged to seek legal counsel and turn himself in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to the suspect may be subject to criminal charges.
