On Nov. 29 at approximately 7 a.m., officers from WRPS’ Neighbourhood Policing and Traffic Services Unit attended the area of Hemlock Hill Drive and Three Bridges Road where two vehicles were located in the ditch.

Through investigation, police determined that two separate single-motor vehicle collisions had occurred. Roads in the area at the time were snow and ice-covered.

In one of the collisions, the driver of a stolen Ford SUV lost control of the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle rolling several times before coming to a stop in a field.

The driver of the stolen vehicle, a 56-year-old male from York Region, was transported to an out-of-region hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries. He was charged by York Regional Police with several offences in relation to the stolen vehicle and was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

In the second collision, a vehicle was located that had slid off the roadway to due road conditions. The driver in this collision did not sustain any physical injuries. Area roadways were closed for approximately four hours for the investigation and have since reopened.
