Video captures vehicle being set on fire in Richmond Hill driveway

York Regional Police are seeking witness, surveillance video, dash cam footage that could help identify the male suspect wanted in connection with the June 10 arson

A woman who was awakened by noises outside early on a Saturday morning this month discovered that her vehicle had been set on fire in the driveway of her Richmond Hill home.

Three women were asleep in the house on Estoril Street, in the area of Berwick Crescent and 16th Avenue, when one was disturbed and opened the garage door to saw her silver Subaru Crosstrek engulfed in flames at about 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, York Regional Police said in a news release.

Richmond Hill Fire and Emergency Services put out the fire. No one was injured, police said.

Surveillance video showed a male suspect pouring liquid over the vehicle before setting it on fire and running northbound on Estoril.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium build. He was wearing a hooded jacket or vest with different-coloured long sleeves, dark pants, and white running shoes.
