VIDEO: $8.9M in cocaine seized in Richmond Hill, Vaughan

Two people arrested after searches conducted at a storage locker in Vaughan and a residence in Richmond Hill

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Projects Unit have charged two people and made a large seizure of cocaine as part of an investigation dubbed Project Aries.

An investigation began in September 2022, regarding suspects believed to be in possession of large quantities of cocaine.

In January 2023, search warrants were executed at a storage locker in the City of Vaughan and at a residence in Richmond Hill. Both accused were arrested at the residence.

During the search warrants officers seized $8.9 million dollars worth of cocaine, $260,000 in cash and $100,000 in luxury clothing.

Charged:
    •    [Name removed], of Richmond Hill
    •    William Phung 39, of Richmond Hill

Charges:
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking
    •    Possession proceeds of crime

The investigation is ongoing.
