VIDEO: 2 vehicles destroyed by suspicious fire in Vaughan

Police say a 2020 Cadillac XT5 and 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan were intentionally set on fire in the driveway of a residence Thursday night

Two vehicles were destroyed in suspicious fires in Vaughan last Thursday night.

A black 2020 Cadillac XT5 and a white 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan were on fire in the driveway of a residence on Ironside Drive Feb. 22 at about 11 p.m., York Regional Police said in a news release.

Due to the active fire, officers evacuated the residents through the backyard. While exiting, a 92-year-old man fell and suffered minor injuries.

Vaughan Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the fire.

Investigators believe the fires were intentionally set, police said. Surveillance video shows two suspects in the area at the time and a suspect vehicle, believed to be a grey or blue four-door sedan.

Police are appealing to anyone with information or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward. Investigators would also like to speak with anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area around the time of the incident.
