UPDATE: Victim identified in Bradford homicide

UPDATE, Sept. 8: South Simcoe Police has identified the man killed in downtown Bradford on Sunday as 59-year-old Cameron David Goddard.

The Bradford man's name was released following notification of his family.

The South Simcoe Police Service has identified the victim of Sunday’s homicide in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

On Sunday, Sept. 4, 2022 at approximately 4:30 a.m., an officer on patrol located a male in distress on Holland Street West in the area of Deer Run Crescent. The male was suffering from a fatal injury and was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation has determined that the victim suffered a fatal injury after coming to the aid of a young female involved in an violent altercation with the accused on Holland Street West. The female was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

The accused, Brandon Aaron, 20, of Bradford surrendered himself to police and was subsequently charged with multiple offences, including second-degree murder, assault with a weapon, assault cause bodily harm, uttering threats, and failure to comply with a judicial release order. He is being held in custody following a bail hearing.
