Vaughan man shot in plaza parking lot last month has died

A 34-year-old Vaughan man who was shot in a plaza parking lot in Vaughan last month died in hospital this week, York Regional Police said.

Police received a report of several shots fired outside of a store at Highway 7 West near Ansley Grove Boulevard on Saturday, Dec. 23 at approximately 9:30 a.m., York Regional Police stated in a news release today.

Responding officers found a man with multiple gunshot wounds, police said. The victim, Robert Hinn, was transported to a trauma centre, and on Jan. 7, he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators believe at least two suspects left the area in a dark-coloured SUV. The shooter is described as a male wearing dark clothing and a dark face mask. There is no description of the other suspect.

Investigators believe this was a targeted shooting and there is no threat to public safety.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators are urged to come forward, along with anyone who has video footage, including dashcam, cellphone, or security recordings from the area around the time of the incident.
