Truck theft at Hwy. 400 rest stop in King leads to arrest in Toronto

Police have charged a man of no fixed address with theft following the incident that began at about 7 a.m. yesterday

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing this vehicle Monday at a rest stop on Highway 400 in King Township.

A man is facing charges after a commercial vehicle was stolen from a rest stop in King Township on Monday.

Shortly before 7 a.m., York Regional Police were contacted about a vac-truck that had been stolen from the rest stop on Highway 400. Officers located the vehicle and followed it into Toronto. When the driver stopped near Highway 427 and the Queensway, he was arrested.

The vehicle was returned to its owner.

Munden Smith, 32, of no fixed address, has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation, flight from a police officer, and driving while prohibited.
