Tow truck fire in Richmond Hill was arson, police say

Police say they believe the torching of a tow truck in Richmond Hill was a deliberate act.

York Regional Police is seeking witnesses after the vehicle went up in flames on Tuesday. 

Police were called to the scene at about 5:15 a.m. at a home on Bayel Crescent, in the area of Bayview Avenue and Elgin Mills Road East.

"When officers arrived on scene, they found the truck fully engulfed in flames," York Regional Police said in a news release. "It was extinguished and no one was injured." 

Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set and that the suspects may have been operating a dark-coloured SUV, the YRP said.
