A warrant has been issued for a 54-year-old Toronto man wanted for attempted murder, assault with a weapon and several other offences after two people were stabbed in Vaughan.

On Saturday, April 24 shortly after 6 p.m., York Regional Police responded to an injured person call on Via Canala Way.

When officers arrived, they found a 51-year-old woman with a life-threatening stab wound and a 56-year-old man with a non life-threatening stab wound, according to a news release.

The female victim was transported to hospital where her condition has since improved and she is now expected to survive, police said.

Investigators are releasing an image of the suspect, Salvatore Farruggio, in an appeal to the public for information on his whereabouts.

He faces charges of attempt murder, assault with a weapon and fail to comply - release order x4.
