Two lanes on Highway 400 southbound just north of the Anne Street bridge were closed for nearly two hours on Sunday, Oct. 15 after a vehicle got stuck between two concrete barriers.

The driver of a black Range Rover was in a bit of a tight spot while travelling southbound on Highway 400 in Barrie Sunday afternoon.

The left two lanes of Highway 400, just north of the Anne Street bridge, were blocked for nearly two hours after Ontario Provincial Police and Barrie Fire were called to help out after the SUV got stuck between two concrete barriers.

OPP received the call at 2:11 p.m. Oct. 15 about a vehicle being wedged between two barriers on the highway, said Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, who confirmed there were no injuries in the incident.

Barrie Deputy Fire Chief Carrie Clark said the occupants of the vehicle had managed to get themselves out of the SUV by the time crews arrived.

“They appear to have driven into the restricted area and got trapped,” she said.

“No one was hurt. EMS checked him over and they signed off, so we just hung around and kept them warm until police arrived to take their story," Clark added.

The OPP said a tow truck removed the vehicle and the area was cleared at 3:42 p.m.

No charges were laid, said Schmidt.
