Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking a suspect following a carjacking in the City of Markham.
On Sunday, April 24, 2022, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers were called to a residence in the area of Mingay Avenue and 16th Avenue for a report of a carjacking.
The victim had parked her grey Mercedes SUV in her driveway when a male suspect, wearing a mask, approached her, grabbing her keys and phone. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. The victim was not physically injured.
The suspect was described as male, Black, wearing a mask.
Investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward. Officers would also like to speak with anyone who may have video surveillance or dash cam footage of the incident.
